During the Battle of St. Albans, north of London, on May 22, 1455, the mentally ill king Henry VI of Lancaster was captured and overthrown by the Earl of Warwick "The Kingmaker" and his ally Duke of York. The event marked the beginning of the bloody era in English history, known as the Wars of the Roses. Two branches of the Plantagenet royal dynasty - Lancaster and York - fought a fierce struggle for the English throne. For the next 30 years England was engulfed by turmoil, internecine warfare and a series of coups d'etat. The crown passed into the hands of the Lancasters, then to the Yorks.
On August 22, 1485, during the battle of Bosworth Field in Leicestershire, the last of the Plantagenet dynasty and the House of York, King Richard III, was killed. He also went down in history as the last king of the Middle Ages and the last king to die on the battlefield.
As a result of the Wars of the Roses Henry VII, ascended the throne and became the founder of the new royal Tudor dynasty. For England this meant the beginning of Absolutism and the transition to the era of modern times, which brought many changes.
The dramatic events of that time were reflected in the literary works of many authors, including William Shakespeare, Walter Scott, Robert Louis Stevenson and many others. Historical and romantic literature has become a source of inspiration for the creators of the "Plantagenet" compilation too.

The 12th UIS release invites you to plunge into the gloomy atmosphere of the fall of the English Middle Ages. 11 projects from Russia, Greece, Italy and Great Britain took part in recording tracks for the compilation. Part of the print run was distributed free of charge in the streets of London and Langtoft in February 2022.

22 мая 1455 года в битве при Сент-Олбансе к северу от Лондона был захвачен в плен и свергнут сумасшедший монарх Генрих VI Ланкастер графом Уорвиком «Создателем Королей», Йорком. Так началась кровавая эпоха в истории Англии, известная как Войны Роз. Две ветви королевской династии Плантагенетов - Ланкастеры и Йорки - вели ожесточенную борьбу за английский престол. На следующие 30 лет Англию захлестнули смута, междоусобные войны и череда государственных переворотов. Корона переходила в руки то Ланкастерам, то Йоркам.
22 августа 1485 года в ходе сражения на Босвортском поле в Лестершире был убит последний из династии Плантагенетов и дома Йорков – король Ричарда III. Он также вошел в историю как последний король Средневековья и последний король, погибший на поле битвы.
По итогам Войны Роз на престол взошел Генрих VII, основатель новой королевской династии Тюдоров. Для Англии это означало начало Абсолютизма и переход в эпоху Нового времени, принесшей множество изменений.
Драматические события того времени нашли отражение в литературных трудах множества авторов, среди которых Уильям Шекспир, Вальтер Скотт, Роберт Льюис Стивенсон и многие другие. Литература историческая и романтическая стала источником вдохновения для создателей сборника «Плантагенет».

12-й UIS релиз приглашает окунуться в мрачную атмосферу осени Английского Средневековья. В сборнике приняли участие 11 проектов из России, Греции, Италии и Великобритании. Часть тиража была безвозмездно распространена на улицах Лондона и Лангтофта в феврале 2022 года.
